The next morning, I woke up and met Anwell at the restaurant. We needed to head to the restaurant supply company in Asheville. As we headed out of town, we passed by Willow’s new place and I saw Damien inside working. Willow had texted me that she was headed to the thrift stores to see what furniture they had before going to the furniture stores.

I couldn’t help but feel a kinship toward Damien. He didn’t have to be there cleaning the restaurant at such an early hour. I inwardly kicked myself. I should be there helping as well. But I had my own restaurant to run.

The trip to Asheville took about an hour. We stopped and had breakfast at our favorite country buffet. I loaded up on bacon and sausage while my cheese omelet was cooking. I sat down with my food and dug in. Anwell was a couple minutes behind, carrying a large plate of meat and a small plate of fruit.

“If Lily asks, I ate fruit, okay?” Anwell said while stuffing his mouth full of bacon.

I laughed. “You mean that small piece of melon and wedge of orange?”

“Exactly.”

We ate in silence, enjoying a few trips to the buffet.

“So, Willow has a thing for Damien?” Anwell asked as he ate his fruit as if it were the nastiest thing in the world.

“She doesn’t have a ‘thing’ for him.” I paused to take a drink of orange juice. “She’s just attracted to him.”

“And he’s working with her to help open the restaurant?”

I sighed. “Yeah. He probably wants her to be successful to ensure the restaurant continues to make him money.”

“Yeah. It has nothing to do with the fact that Willow is a beautiful, flirtatious woman.” He handed his business debit card to the waitress.

“Just shut up, Anwell.”

He smirked as he filled out the receipt for our meal.
